MySpace Virus

WARNING!
there is a myspace virus going around.

I dont have the virus, because i wasnt stupid enough to download it, but let this be a reminder to everyone else, dont click on suspicious links, and certainely dont download anything to your computer unless you know for sure, what it is and that is is from a trusted provider.

in order to get rid of the virus, first close aim completely, this can be done by going to ctrl alt delete and end the process aim.exethen press ctrl alt delete, and go to prcoesseslook for the tag wgav.exe and end that process
Then look inC:\windows\prefetch look for a file with the tag wgav and delete it completely
Then look in hereC:\windows\system32look for a exe for with the wgav tag and delete it completely
then ure cured or simple solutionstart a search with the keyword wgav and delete all those files that come up, but ure aim has to be completely off


Update 2:
In order to get rid of the virus that spams "they have us on myspace" virus follow these steps.
1) Close AIM completely. This can be done by going to the task manager (Ctrl + alt + del) and then the processes tab and ending the process aim.exe.*Anything else associated with AIM must be ended as well

2) While in the processes section, look for the image name wgav.exe and end that process as well. This process will only end successfully if everything related to AIM is ended completely. If the wgav.exe simply will not die, then you may have to uninstall aim in order to end it.

3) The virus installed itself in two places. First look in C:\windows\prefetch and search for a program/exe with the words wgav in it and delete it. Remember everything with the words wgav is bad. Next look in C:\windows\system32 and look for wgav.exe and delete that too. After all wgav related files are deleted, go ahead and empty the Recycle Bin and you are cured!

then ure cured
